Natchez Museum Of African American Culture Newest Exhibit
NAPAC Museum adds the newest exhibit, “The Black Butterfly” the life of opera singer Daisy Newman a 1965 graduate of Sadie V.Thompson High School. The story of Ms. Newman’s life not only gives us a glimpse of her but a look at the character of the citizens of Natchez. Education, hard work , and perseverance help us defeat all odds and achieve those things that make a difference in our community and country.
This exhibit was presented to the Museum by the 1st Black Mayor since reconstruction Phillip West and Leader of THe Black Business and Civic League Jimmy Ware with Mary White a co-founder of NAPAC accepting. The museum is Very Gracious to Mrs. Dorothy Hills The sister of Daisy Newman for entrusting us with letting the world see this story through the eyes of us that have known her.
The visitors from the American Duchess who was present at the museum became very excited as they felt elated to be addressed by the 1st Black Mayor Of Natchez since reconstruction. It truly was a visit with History.
